Keith Tantlinger: Revolutionized Shipping Container Design

On August 27th, the International Trade Market lost one of its greatest unsung heroes, Keith Tantlinger. Tantlinger is best known for designing a new shipping container used to transport commercial goods around the globe. His simple, yet effective design features a corner mechanism which locks containers together, allowing them to be lifted by crane and stacked high on top of each other on ships.
Although shipping containers have been used since the 19th century, Tantlinger’s modest design change sparked the globalization revolution in the 1950s. His newly designed containers could be loaded and unloaded faster than ever before – saving money and enabling businesses to sell their goods to new customers all over the world. Without the Tantlinger designed containers, the global economy would be nothing like it is today.
Fornazor International uses Tantlinger-designed shipping containers to transport animal feeds and other ingredients direct from our U.S facilities to our customers all over the world. We offer our products in both 20' and 40' shipping containers. Our feeds can be either bulk loaded into these containers or bagged. For bulk loaded containers, we can use liners and install wooden grain doors at the opening of the containers as needed. We also ship product which has been packaged in bags ranging from 25kg all the way up to 1MT super sacks. Bagged product can be floor loaded or palletized as needed. We can provide custom printed bag tags or printed bags. For more information about our shipping containers or our products, please visit our website today.

DDGS Exports to Japan on Pace for Record 2011

This is an exciting time for the U.S. Grains Council as they have recently reported that sales of U.S. Dried Distiller Grains with Soluble (DDGS) to Japan for the year 2011 are on pace to break all-time record highs. This is much welcomed news, especially after a recent visit by a DDGS promotion team of Japanese feed, livestock and trade industry representatives to major U.S. DDGS suppliers and growers.

The visit from the Japanese team only helped to reaffirm the partnership between them and the U.S. grains suppliers and growers. The Japanese team was able to meet with U.S. government regulators and farmers as well as tour U.S. biotech research facilities. The team was able to see first-hand how the U.S meets the high standards of grain regulations to ensure the production of quality distiller grains, animal feed and overall environmental safety. The Japanese team was assured to find the extensive care with which U.S. grain growers and distributers were producing and handling this product. This visit helped to reestablish the positive agricultural relationship between the two nations as well as to show the world that the U.S. is a reliable source of quality grains.

At Fornazor International, we take pride in our high-quality animal feed products, including grain vegetable proteins such as DDGS and corn gluten meal. We welcome the opportunity to discuss your animal feed requirements as we expand our business into emerging global feed markets such as Japan.

Hurricane Irene Causes Damage to Cotton Crop; Drives Futures Prices Up

In the wake of Hurricane Irene, US farmers have begun to survey the extensive damage inflicted on their crops. Farms in one state, North Carolina, are now reporting significant damage to many of their harvests, including the all-important cotton crop. North Carolina is the United States' fourth-largest cotton grower, but after Hurricane Irene the state is now facing devastatingly low numbers of the popular product as well as a loss in profits.

North Carolina is not the only place struggling with the cotton crop this year. Pakistan, the world's fourth-largest cotton producer is also experiencing a significant decrease in the cotton crop due to excessive rain and flooding. Their output of cotton has decreased by more than 8 percent. As to be expected, the combination of both of these events has caused the price of cotton to rapidly increase.

Despite these supply issues, Fornazor International remains a leading exporter of US cottonseed to the world market. Demand for the commodity as an animal feed ingredient remains high, as dairy farmers have found whole cottonseed to be an excellent source of energy, protein, and fiber in cattle rations. Our strong relationships with domestic suppliers allow us to source cottonseed of the highest quality.
