New Jersey is home to about 42,000 horses. That's a lot of hay!

While our relationship with horses has changed from utilitarian to enjoyment, much has not changed: horses are still very much part of our lives and our relationship with them ties us to the land.

More than 176,000 acres of land across New Jersey support equestrian activities and another 46,000 acres are used to grow hay and grains for horses.  Garden State horses are used for racing, breeding, showing, pleasure riding and therapy for the disabled.

In New Jersey, the equine industry is the locomotive that drives the farmland and open space program. The industry is a powerful economic engine....it’s the farmer who grows the hay, the farrier who shoes the horses, the veterinarian who keep them healthy. And that’s just for starters. There are approximately 13,000 jobs in New Jersey which depend on the horse industry.

ORB WINS THE KENTUCKY DERBY

Congratulations all around!  The 139th running of the Kentucky Derby was won by ORB. A day that started with overcast skies, ended with the brightest smiles from a truly impressive team surrounding Orb.

A special congratulations goes out to Hallway Feeds, who is having another very impressive year.  With first places finishes at the Dubai Classic and Kentucky Derby, we are all excited to see what will be next!

Fornazor Trader Update: Hong Kong and Bangkok

Fornazor traders arrived in Asia last week in preparation for the VIVAsia show, which takes place in Bangkok from March 13^th-15^th. Before traveling to Thailand, they spent time meeting with business partners in Hong Kong. Their stops included seeing horse races at the Hong Kong Jockey Club. Fornazor International proudly exports Hallway’s line of equine feeds which are used by top horses at the Jockey Club and around the world.

Opening ceremonies officially kicked off VIV Asia 2013 this morning – a trade show which features nearly seven hundred exhibitors from 40 countries. This year’s show is organized around the concept of “the complete feed to meat supply chain.” Exhibitors include exporters of feed and feed ingredients like Fornazor International, processors, and end users. VIV is a showcase for the latest technologies in animal feed science. VIV also features numerous conferences addressing issues from health and safety in meat production to extended shelf life. As many as 25,000 visitors from all over the world are expected to attend the show.

HORFA 2011 - China's Largest Horse Show

Representatives from Fornazor International will attend HORFA 2011 in Shanghai, China from October 28^th – 30^th.  HORFA, the largest horse show in China, is committed to the development of the Chinese horse industry through the promotion of international communication and cooperation among horse industries.  Exhibitors from more than 15 countries will include equine feed producers, suppliers of horse riding products, and breeders.

            China is an exciting new market for Fornazor International and our line of equine feeds and supplements. The Chinese horse industry has grown significantly over the last five years. During that period, over 4000 horses have been imported into China.  During the first seven months this year, China's horse imports have already reached 1200 heads.
