Food for Thought

It was tough, but Team Fornazor braved the record-breaking heat and attended SIAL Paris October 2012. Not only was it hot walking the boulevards of Paris, it was very hot in Parc des Expositions de Paris-Nord Villepinte. The weather was suffocating, but we were in Paris, so how could we really complain?

Occurring every two years, the 25^th edition of SIAL Paris attracted visitors from not only the European Union but also from the rest of Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The show is the world’s largest international food and beverage trade exhibit, and had over 150,000 professional visitors, an increase of more than 10% from the previous show. 62.8 percent of attendees were international visitors from 200 countries. The USA pavilion had a strong turn out and featured 140 exhibitors.

The show was attended by importers & wholesalers, agents & distributors, supermarkets & hypermarkets, department stores & niche retailers, hotels & restaurants, foodservice buyers, fast food, airlines, duty-free stores, mail order catalogs. Fornazor met with several of our international food customers as well as our suppliers for fresh table eggs, tomato sauces, lentils and beans, cookies and crackers.

No Yolk! We've Got Eggs

Over the past 30+ years, Fornazor International has built its business on trading agricultural commodities. A relatively new commodity to the company’s portfolio is USDA shell eggs. We only work with suppliers who can meet the varying needs of the international market.  Our eggs are farm fresh and offer superior flavor. We carefully monitor the container’s carrying temperature (38F/3.36 C), create the necessary documentation and provide egg-ceptional service, ensuring there are no surprises once the container is opened at its final destination.

Eggs are transported aboard ocean vessels, in 40 ft refrigerated containers. Typically, there are 850 cases in a container, with 360 eggs per case.  At 306,000 eggs per container, that’s a lot of eggs. Do you know that, eggs---when refrigerated--- can keep for more than six months? Eggs are nutritious and loaded with protein!  We see them being sold to retail markets, as well as food service companies selling to hospitals, schools, restaurants, commercial bakeries, resorts, hotels and the military. It is difficult to find a healthier meal at such a low cost!
